First Thoughts On The ALL NEW SUPRA
Roshana Senevirathna 17.01.2019
Car community all over the world is bombarded with the news
about the Toyota Supra being released and available for pre orders from the 15th
of January this year. Yes if you happen to have 12.35million LKR or more
excluding the government tax (which will be around 27mil for a 3L car) lying
around to spend on a Toyota; now is the time.
For this price you
will be able to get your hands on the Standard GR Supra A90 which has many
interesting features for a “BASIC” car. You will be having a sweet 3l Turbo
engine which also comes with undoubtedly amazing German technology for free. As
Toyota promised long before they gifted the world with an in-line 6 cylinder
for the new Supra to keep up with the original Supra bloodline. One thing
disappointing about the new Supra is power outcome because the world was
expecting something more than a little nearly 340bhp but hey, other than that
you can get an 8 speed Automatic Transmission which is expected to be smoother
than butter itself in a standard car. If that isn’t enough for you, you also
will be getting Adaptive Suspension, 19inch Forged Alloy wheels too.
Other than being all mechanical and sporty, this new Supra
will come with cruise control, a fancy looking leather trims with heated,
adjustable Alcantara Sports Seats for you to be more than comfortable
while you are speeding to check the power of this new Japanese beauty. You will
be getting AC obviously because the hotness of the car is hard to bare even in
a winter evening along with 10 Speaker Sound System including an 8.8inch
display In case you needed something else to listen to other than the sweet
exhaust of the new talk of the car town. You will be having fancy LED Lights
and Rain Sensing Vipers because why not! After all Toyota is all about
reliability.
But that’s not the only thing Toyota offers you in the menu.
If you have extra 306,000LKR in your pockets you can have all the above mentioned
options but more such as Black Leather Interior, to feel the elegance in a
sports car and wireless charging, 12-JBL Speaker System for more quality
entertainment and a Heads-UP display which would help you to keep your eyes on
the road when you are trying some Tuner Life Stunts.
If you really love the spotlight you have another option to
go for; Toyota Supra GR A90 Edition which will be exclusive and only 24 cars
will come out of the production line. Unfortunately this is for the UK buyers
but if you have contacts nothing is impossible. What’s so special about this
model is Sunning Good Looks. The car will come with Matt black alloy wheels,
red interior and specially with Storm Grey Matt Finishing because obviously
90’s kids are nostalgic that way.
However you have to hurry up if you are wishing to get your
hands on one of these beauties and also you have to spend 13.35LKR just for the
car.
Basically the new Supra seems to be a good option for
someone who’s planning to get a Japanese sports car with a German heart
considering the specs below;
Engine 3.0L 6 Cylinder
Transmission 8
A/T
0-100kmph 4.3seconds
Top Speed 250kmph
Weight 1495kg
Height 1292mm
Width 1854mm
Length 4379mm
Though some consider that “The New Supra is the Best German
Japanese Alliance since WW2.”, Toyota CEO Akio Toyoda says otherwise.
“SUPRA is an
old friend that holds a special place in my heart.
I can honestly
say that it is a car that is fun to drive and better than ever.”
-Toyoda

Though we will have to pay a hectic amount of tax for these,
we will be able to see some of these NaziSamurais rolling on Sri Lankan roads
soon.
Update : Toyota will release a 2.0l variant for the domestic
market. YAAY!!!
